Marley Sandelski is a kid who does not have any friends and gets bullied alot. He is in 7th grade and gets bullied by a group he calls the gorn. In school he gets into AV club.Later in the book he quit AV club and signs up for running. After 2 days he quits running.I liked this book because it was realistic.

Warp Speed is a Star Trek reference. The main character, Marley is a really big Star Trek fan. Warp Speed could also refer to Marley special talent…that I will not give away! … you’ll have to read the book to figure out how Marley has “warp speed”.

  •    Geodback  |  September 21st, 2012 at 2:13 pm

It’s definitely not used a lot but the words “warp speed” do appear on page 50

Well spotted, Geodback! It does seem to be a kind of minor reference though. Do you have any thoughts on why Ms. Yee chose it for the title? — Kate Davie

I read the book, and still, the word warp speed never appears? I wonder why?

That’s a good question! I haven’t read this one yet, so I can’t begin to answer it, but maybe someone out there in DCF world will be willing to tackle it with us. — Kate Davie
