This book is my favorite DCF book so far. This book is a great historical fiction book. I don’t especially like historical fiction books but, this one just grabbed me. I loved this book so much because, there was a lot of real life problems but there was most likely a nice solution. This was a fantastic book!

This book was amazing! I loved how the theme was perserverance and stick to it-ness! Rachel and her family have their struggles but, come together in the most loving way! Such a great book!:)

Determiniation and perserverance set the direction for the characters in this book. Let’s be thankful for all our wondeful libraries where we can borrow all the books we want to read. How tough the Depression years were on everyone.

We have a lot to thank Dorothy Canfield Fisher for — she worked hard to help make schools good places to be. I bet she would have been pleased to know that you are enjoying the books on her award list. — Kate Davie

I read R my name is Rachel in a day and a half! I just couldn’t put it down. I enjoyed reading as Rachel and her family agusted to a new life in the country during the great depresion. It’s a great mix between history and fiction and so realistic I could feel Rachel’s sadness and exitment, and especially her love of books. I recommend it to anyone who likes realistic fiction, dcf books or just well written books!

Ooh, a strong recommendation! I can hardly wait to get my hands on it — I like all three of those categories of books! — Kate Davie

Were you anticipating an alphabet book? Or did you not think it was mostly about Rachel? — Kate Davie
