Olivia and I have read inside out and back again by Thanhha Lai, and we like the book a lot. Olivia and I really like the way Thanhha wrote this book… We like how Ha learned English so fast, and how she kind of doesn’t give up. Keep up the good work! :)

Inside Out and Back Again is based on a true story. I think it was scary because of the war in Viet Nam. Ha’s family had to move to Alabama to get away from the war. It was hard for Ha in her new school. It’s hard being the new kid and she was bullied a lot because she was different. This story was told as a poem and liked this. I think it is cool that my classmate finished it in a day!

In the book Inside Out And Back Again there is a mystery because Ha’s dad goes missing. Ha lives with her mom and 3 brothers. She has fun in her life in Viet Nam but she has to move to the United States She is sad because she doesn’t want to leave her dad behind. Her brothers names are Khoi, Quang, and Lee and they can be loud sometimes. Ha loves to help her mom around the house most of the time. I loved reading about Ha’s life.

I really did not think this book had a good plot line. I did like how it was written in verses. Some of the story was touching but some seem random and there wasn’t a lot of intense which was a turn of for me

this is such a good book that if I could i would read over and over again. I usually do not like these kind of stories but I was able to fall in love with this one.

Very intriguing! What do you mean by “these kind of stories”? — Kate Davie

this is a really good book I like that it has poetry format. I can’t put the book down. The main character seems really nice but she has a rough life.

This was an amazingly detailed book about hope, strength, and courage. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a well written historical fiction novel. This book is about a girl named Ha that moves up north to Alabama in search of her father that had been captured by communists years earlier. The journey from Saigon to America was tough for Ha, but with love from her mom and three brothers she learns to adapt to the new culture. I really hope you enjoy reading Inside Out and Back Again by Thanhha La.
