I loved this book! Schools should use this book to teach about slavery and segregation, it is super interesting and fascinating. the pictures were amazing! It has a really great message! And I love the way he wrote it in a southern accent.

I loved this book! I think that they should teach more about slaves and what they had to do and they should use this book to teach it!

Maybe you could suggest that to your social studies teachers! — Kate Davie

It made me cry at the end, I never knew slavery lasted more than 100 years. I’m ashamed of what people did back then. WHY?!
Oh, and by the way, LOVED IT!!

If you are looking for a good picture book and a good history book you should read the book Heart and Soul. I’ve got to admit that this is the best book I have read in awhile. And I have read some really good books. If you like it tell every one in the comments.

What element of this book did you think makes it the best? Is it the information that it gave you, or the style of writing, the illustrations, or something else? — Kate Davie

I liked this book, it has a very depressing story.
I thank you should read it

So, since you think other people should read it, does that mean it’s a good story, even though it’s depressing? — Kate Davie

This book is really good, even though it looks bad it has a lot of detail and a really good point. Try it out before judging it

What is it about the way it looks that you don’t like? — Kate Davie

This book very well-written and the illustrations were feeling-filled and beautiful! The words and the pictures wove together to make an inspirational book.
