September 26, 2009
Goodman, Allegra. The Other Side of the Island.
Born in the eighteenth year of Enclosure, ten-year-old Honor lives in a highly regulated colony with her defiant parents, but when they have an illegal second child and are taken away, it is up to Honor and her friend Helix, another “unpredictable,” to uncover a terrible secret about their island and the corporation that runs everything.

This book is never dull. It is really great and I would recommend this book to anyone that likes science fiction. I could feel how Honor felt thru out the book. It was a cliff hanger in the end though. One of the best I have ever read.

This book was one of the best books I have ever read! It was hard for me to put the book down because it was so awsome. Almost every chapter left you with a cliff hanger, which made you want to read more. I liked this book a lot.

When I read this book, I was moved to see how unfairly people were being treated and the way they all had to believe in Earth Mother. It really makes you think about what the future might really be like.

I think my favorite element of this book is the way that, in the beginning, Honor tries to make her parents conform more. In many books, the protagonist identifies the evil forces right off the bat. But here, Honor starts off believing the propaganda and only realizes the truth slowly. I think that is a very realistic response for her character in that situation.

good book but it left off at the end so they need a second book.

Mystery? How young are you talking? My friend liked it but never really told me about it. I might read it.

while this book seems as if it would be exciting, I had trouble reading it and thought that from the girls point of view it is a little slow

This book was very very dull! I thought it would be a creepy science fictoin story but turned out to be very dull. Honor was not a very good character and I never could feel for her. As a fan of stories about the world gone wrong, I do not recomend this book.
