What a page-turner. I couldn’t put it down. Chilling to think of reality TV in this light. Can’t wait to read the sequel.

this was a good book but it is for people that really know how to read and can under stand what the book is trying to say

Lately I’ve been very much into the sub-genre of ultra violent sports of the future such as rollerball and death race 2000. This is probably one of the best novels in this genre. It’s a gory, thought-provoking thrill-ride and i can’t wait for the sequel.

I finished this book and am ready for more! Can’t wait for the sequel! How amazing to think that there would be a group of people who would have their celebratory focus at the cost of a group of other peoples’ lives!

I think that this book is really good. It shows a great friendship developing between Katniss and Petra, the two contestants who are supposed to fight to the death.

Arianna Whitcomb said this is a book for those who understand what the book is trying to say.
What does Arianna think it is trying to say?

  • 10.    Mayor Adam West  |  October 13th, 2009 at 4:34 am

Wow this was a really awesome book. If you like violent television shows I would recommend it. This is like a violent television show, except in your head! But seriously, read this book.

At first glance I was not interested in “The Hunger Games”, without really knowing much about it. One of my students was reading this during free read time and I inquired about the story. Having now read collins’ book I have nothing but praise for a well written, gripping, hold-on-to-your-hat, wild ride of a tale.
Set in Americas post WWIII, life is nothing but hard for the remaining citizens except the inhabitants of ‘the capitol’. Hunger Games unite the country once each year in a battle to the death reality T.V. show with twists and turns aplenty. Don’t make the mistake of thinking you will see where this story goes too early on, the edge of your seat writing will hold you to the very last page. I highly recommend this for a great rainy day weekend of reading. You will not be dissappointed.

Mayor Adam West, though I live in a television-free house I’m pretty sure I don’t like violent television shows. You’ve made me think that I really won’t like The Hunger Games! I’ll let you know how it goes when I read the book.

I haven’t read this book yet but I know people who have. What Iv’e heard about the book so far is that it’s a major cliffhanger and it was very interesting. The library I go to has it out all the time and there are at least 5 people on hold for it! I am very excited to start reading!

I am reading this book and it really is not that violent. Don’t listen to the other people saying it is gory. It is a little violent but I wouldn’t call it gory. You should definiately be 10+age to read this. I reccommend this book to everyone!

I found a couple of websites that named a movie company which has purchased the rights to the book, and said that Suzanne Collins will be writing the screenplay. But her website doesn’t mention a movie anywhere that I could find.

If she did write the screenplay, it might interfere with her working on the third book. Which would be harder, waiting for the movie or waiting for the third book?

  • 27.    Family Guy  |  October 21st, 2009 at 12:25 pm

  • 39.    bigbird  |  October 29th, 2009 at 8:34 am

When I read Hunger Games i got lost on some parts like when in the begining when Katniss was hunting in the begining when Katniss went through the electric fence to go hunting with her dad’s bow.Another part i got lost in was when Katniss was in the mines and when Thresh was guarding the supplies.Something that I want to know is Gale jealous because Petta likes Katniss and Katniss likes him.

The Hunger Games is a very good book. My friend recommended it to me. I recommend it to whoever reads this comment. Actually only to people who like gruesome books. Because it is about people in this arena and they try to kill each other and the last person standing wins. As the winner you get very rich and famous. I just started the second book catching fire.

I have read a lot lot lot of books in my life (not that long cuz I’m only a 7th grader) and I think I can honestly say thos one is THE BEST.
I love the themes, the characters (especially Peeta) and the settings. Maybe this is really what the world will be like someday…it’s so cool to think about! A lot of people said since I’m squeamish, I shouldn’t read the book, but my teachers are really into it and eeryone loved it, so I did. Its even better than everyone says it is!!! READ. THIS. BOOK.\
    NOW!!!!

This was an amazing book! I finished it in less than three days I could not put it down. Never a boring chapter – just enough action. The perfect way to imagine how the world may go wrong. Katniss is a character that I can feel for, she was well written and real, making the Hunger Games one my favorite books.

  • 45.    book lady  |  November 19th, 2009 at 1:16 pm

This book reminds me of the Lottery by Shirley Jackson. The kids being sent into the games to be killed made me sick to my stomach. But I kept on reading because the story was so compeling. This is a definite read if you like suspense and drama.

  • 46.    annagirl  |  November 19th, 2009 at 1:27 pm

I thought the Hunger Games was an absolutely great book. Everybody at my school was trying to get their hands on a copy so I bought my self one and read it and thought it was great. I liked it mostly because of how smart and original it was. I loved it!
