i think jellaby is a great book

  • 4.    Allball103  |  October 2nd, 2009 at 6:57 am

This book was… awkward, to say the least. Jellaby himself was awesome, but most of the other characters seemed pointless to me. Carrots?

Jellaby was not a graphic novel I would put on my top list.
I felt like the characters (except Jellaby) weren’t really “alive”
I couldn’t properly believe in the characters so that i could fall into the book. I didn’t feel any emotion for most of the characters. That’s one of the qualities I look for in a book.

    i liked it.655

This was more of a third or 4th grade book, but it was still a fun, quick read. I think it could have had more detail about the characters.

I was surprised that it made the DCF list, because it’s sort of childish. I was annoyed that it didn’t really have an ending, so you have to buy the sequel to find out what happened. They just want to make some money!

This is an awesome book. I dont usually like graphic novels but this was good. I think jellaby was adorable. The book was well thought out too.

Jellaby, was a very interesting and cool book. I have always loved graphic novels and this was a very good one. I enjoyed it extremely! It also had so much detail, and it brought out their charters extremely so you really knew their personalities.

This book was okay, lik many others I agree that any characters other than Jellaby do not really come alive in the book, this book also does not have a very good ending and there are red herrings in the book, such as Portia’s Father’s ring.

this book is good because theres really good friendship in it. and if u like made up characters then this is the book 4 u. READ IT!!!!!!!!!

  • 13.    Pageturner  |  October 14th, 2009 at 5:17 pm

In my opinion this is a book with way too much purple, too many strangely shaped eyes and mouths, and the character handcuffed to the bench who later appears on the train is way too scary.
Clearly there’s a tug between good and evil happening here but the story’s unfinished!

  • 14.    Nell  |  October 19th, 2009 at 12:23 pm

i thought that book was pretty cool because there was a purple monster in it

  • 15.    SG  |  October 20th, 2009 at 12:00 pm

I really love this book because it is soooooo cute. if you like a good graphic novel that has unlikely friends, this book is definitely for you! its one of my favorites!!!

  • 16.    acereporter7  |  October 20th, 2009 at 2:08 pm

is this really a good book? it looks-for lack of a better word-babyish. and what about carrotts?

  • 17.    Lacy123  |  October 21st, 2009 at 5:39 pm

I agree with wertwert123 and Angelo f war also. I liked Jellaby though he was cute and why did Allball103 say carrots?

  • 18.    kelty16  |  October 22nd, 2009 at 12:03 pm

Well, I didn’t quite understand it. I pesonally think it could have SOME improvement. I wouldn’t really reccomend this book to anyone beacuse it’s a lower reading level, I couldn’t relate to any of the characters, and I found the story relatively hard to follow.
I gues some people might find it interesting, but I didn’t

  • 19.    kelty16  |  October 22nd, 2009 at 12:05 pm

    wetwert,
I kind of agree with you. I thought maybe it would make a good red clover book, but I didn’t think it really fitted DCF very well.

  • 20.    scobby-doo  |  October 23rd, 2009 at 8:39 am

well it was kind of graphic in some parts of the book

  • 21.    scobby-doo  |  October 23rd, 2009 at 8:41 am

so i personly hated it but i dont think its apporpite for red clover

  • 22.    WAFFLE GIRL 245  |  October 24th, 2009 at 1:32 pm

the purple monster was cool but while i was reading it, i felt guilty reading a 8 year old book when i could be reading 6th grade level where i am. My teacher said it was grafic but it wasnt…. i thing first, secand, third graders should read this book but not 5th and sixth……….

  • 23.    Atermies  |  October 24th, 2009 at 5:11 pm

it was pretty good for comic book because i don’t read to much of those and i also agree that it should be a Red Clover book

  • 25.    katedavie  |  October 26th, 2009 at 6:29 am

I think we’re talking about two different uses of the word graphic here. Sometimes people use the word graphic to mean full of vivid details, as in “The graphic violence in this movie requires an R rating.” The other sense means that the thing being described uses pictures, images, or illustrations to communicate. That’s the meaning in the term “graphic novel”.

I think jellaby was funny touching and kind of creepy too. Jason seems like he’s going to be such a pain.

  • 28.    billy  |  October 29th, 2009 at 8:33 am

    Jellaby
This was made as a award because it is very awsome it was picked so people could have a commic book so they can have a fiction.jellaby is a really cool book.i think that it was picked because it is a really funny and cool it is cool because they find a monster.
